About

Melanotan 2 (MT-2) is a synthetic cyclic analog of α-MSH that binds all melanocortin receptors (MC1R–MC4R), producing tanning, appetite suppression, and powerful sexual arousal effects. The sexual and appetite effects arise from its central activity at MC3R and MC4R in the hypothalamus.

Mechanism of Action

MC1R activation produces melanin (tanning); MC3R and MC4R activation in the hypothalamus triggers sexual arousal, spontaneous erections, and appetite suppression. More potent and more CNS-active than MT-1.
