also known as: Alanine-Histidine-Lysine copper peptide, Copper tripeptide-3
Half-life: Short; topical absorption varies by formulation
AHK-Cu is a copper-chelating tripeptide (Ala-His-Lys) that stimulates hair follicle growth and skin remodeling. It activates stem cells in the hair follicle bulge region, making it one of the most studied peptides for hair loss and scalp health.
Mechanism of Action
Binds copper (II) ions and delivers them to tissue where copper-dependent enzymes (lysyl oxidase, SOD) support collagen crosslinking and follicle regeneration. Upregulates β-catenin signaling in hair follicle stem cells.
GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu have complementary copper-delivery mechanisms — GHK-Cu for skin/wound healing, AHK-Cu for follicle-specific growth.
Snap-8 reduces expression lines while AHK-Cu rebuilds the underlying collagen matrix.
No direct synergy; used together for overall wellbeing protocols.
None listed.
Alternate AHK-Cu (hair focus) and GHK-Cu (skin/wound focus) cycles for broad anti-aging coverage.
Storage
Store in cool, dark place. Stable in solution at pH 5–7.
Reconstitution
Often pre-formulated; if lyophilized, reconstitute with bacteriostatic saline.
