also known as: Thymus polypeptide, TP, Timogen
Half-life: Variable; mixture of peptides with different half-lives
Thymalin is a polypeptide extract of the bovine thymus gland, containing a mixture of thymic peptides including thymopoietin and thymosin fractions. It has been used in Eastern European medicine for immunosenescence, chronic infections, autoimmune modulation, and longevity for decades.
Mechanism of Action
Mixture of thymic peptides that restore T-cell differentiation and function, support thymic output of naive T-cells, modulate cytokine balance, and reduce excessive inflammation while supporting appropriate immune responses.
Thymalin is a broader thymus extract; Thymosin Alpha 1 is the most studied specific component — combining provides both breadth and specific targeted immune action.
Epithalon addresses cellular aging; Thymalin addresses immune aging — classic Russian anti-aging longevity combination.
LL-37 provides innate antimicrobial defense; Thymalin supports adaptive T-cell immunity — comprehensive immune coverage.
Significant overlap in mechanism; can be used together but watch for over-stimulation of immune system.
Vilon is another thymus-derived bioregulator — close overlap with Thymalin.
Run Thymalin for a 10-day course, then Vilon for a different thymic bioregulator effect in the subsequent cycle.
Storage
Refrigerate at 2–8°C (36–46°F).
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water.
