also known as: Epitalon, Epithalamin, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly
Half-life: Very short in plasma; epigenetic effects are durable
Epithalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) that mimics the action of epithalamin, a natural peptide extract of the pineal gland. It is one of the most extensively studied anti-aging peptides, with evidence for telomere lengthening, improved melatonin secretion, circadian rhythm restoration, and cancer suppression in animal models.
Mechanism of Action
Activates telomerase enzyme to lengthen telomeres. Normalizes hypothalamic-pituitary function, restoring melatonin and cortisol rhythms. Upregulates p53 tumor suppressor. Reduces oxidative stress via superoxide dismutase and catalase upregulation.
Khavinson et al. (Russian Academy of Medical Sciences) published dozens of studies from 1980s–2020s showing lifespan extension of 25–40% in mice, telomere lengthening, and cancer suppression. First human anti-aging peptide study showed improved retinal function in aging patients.
GHK-Cu provides systemic anti-aging collagen and antioxidant effects; Epithalon provides cellular telomere and circadian restoration.
NAD+ restores sirtuin/PARP activity; Epithalon extends telomeres — together they address complementary hallmarks of aging.
Pinealon also targets the pineal gland and neuronal aging — synergistic with Epithalon for neuro-endocrine anti-aging.
Immune function typically declines with age alongside telomere shortening — Thymosin Alpha 1 and Epithalon together restore both.
