also known as: GHRH(1-29)-NH2, Geref
Half-life: ~7–10 minutes
Sermorelin is a synthetic analog of the first 29 amino acids of endogenous GHRH (growth hormone-releasing hormone). It is the oldest GHRH analog in clinical use and was previously FDA-approved for pediatric GH deficiency. It stimulates the pituitary gland to produce GH naturally, preserving pulsatile release and pituitary responsiveness.
Mechanism of Action
Binds GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotrophs, triggering GH synthesis and pulsatile release. The shorter sequence vs full GHRH means it is more stable and practical to administer. Effects are dependent on pituitary reserve, making it more physiological than exogenous HGH.
Originally FDA-approved as Geref for pediatric GH deficiency diagnosis. Withdrawn from US market in 2008 but widely available as compounded peptide. Extensive safety record from clinical use.
GHRH + GHRP synergy — Sermorelin + Ipamorelin is the classic "starter" GH peptide stack.
GHRP-2 provides stronger GH release paired with Sermorelin for a more potent protocol.
CJC-1295 No DAC is a more potent GHRH analog — using both is redundant pituitary stimulation.
Another GHRH analog — do not combine.
Tesamorelin is another GHRH analog — redundant.
Graduate from Sermorelin/Ipamorelin to CJC-1295/Ipamorelin for increased potency in subsequent cycles.
